Ngong Pilot Project (NPP)

Transforming Public Bus Transport

The Ngong Pilot Project (NPP) enhanced public transport along Route 111 by significantly improving reliability, safety and comfort.

ROUTE 111 (P&P)

In collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), NaMATA successfully launched the Ngong Road Pilot Project (NPP) on 3rd April 2025, concluding it on 2nd May 2025. The pilot was a key component of a broader three-year initiative.

Route 111 was selected due to its strategic importance and high passenger demand. The pilot introduced standardized operations, fixed fares, scheduled services, and vehicle tracking systems.

Drivers and conductors underwent dedicated training to align service delivery with best practices in customer care and road safety, setting the stage for scaling up across Nairobi.
